Calling All Scout Instrumentalists!

Calling All Scout Instrumentalists!!!

We are are now on the third year of our tradition to have an ensemble play for the December Court of Honor.  We will be playing Christmas carols and holiday music.  All Scouts who play in band or orchestra are invited to participate.

We are planning three practice sessions this year - on Sunday afternoon December 4th from 2-4 pm; on Sunday afternoon December 11th from 2-4 pm; and another practice on Tuesday evening December 13th from 7-9 pm in the St Timothy School music room.  Please come to all if you can, or at least to one if that's all you can do.

Those who are playing should arrive at the Court of Honor on Thursday, December 15th by 6:30pm so that we can play while people are arriving.   The ensemble will also play for the holiday festivities after the recognition for rank advancement and merit badges are completed.

If you would like to participate in the ensemble, please sign up on the Troop calendar  and indicate what instrument you play and which part you would like to play.  If you cannot attend on a Sunday or Tuesday, but would still like to participate, please let me know and perhaps we can meet a little earlier on Wednesday to go over the music with you.

As an added bonus, we are working on arrangements to play at the Fairfax Nursing Home over Christmas break.  More details on that to follow.

The music is in the files section on the Troop website.  YOU SHOULD PRINT YOUR MUSIC FROM THE FILE.  I will not be bringing music for everyone.  Remember that we need folks on ALL parts, so choose according to the suggestions that are on the files page.

If you can practice your part before hand, then please concentrate on songs listed here:
1. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
8. O Little Town
10. Wassail Song
11. Jingle Bells
12. Deck the Halls
13. We Wish You A Merry Christmas
16. Away in a Manger
21. O Christmas Tree
22. God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen
25. Silent Night
28. Jolly Old Saint Nicholas
31. March of the Three Kings
47. Carol of the Bells (might be 48 in some music)
56. Silver Bells
58. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
59. Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire
63. Frosty the Snowman
67. Feliz Navidad

Note: This counts for service hours for many things including school, CCD, Scouts, NHS, etc.

Hope to see you there!  Mrs. Warsocki

Merit Badge University - Dec 10th

Posted on Nov 27 2016 - 11:52pm

This is a reminder that Merit Badge University (MBU) will be December 10th.  Scouts should make sure to check if there are any pre-requisites for the merit badge(s) they are signed up for and complete them before MBU if possible.  If for some reason a Scout needs to cancel their registration, please email Mrs. Desrosier so that we can open up the slot to those Scouts who are on the wait list for MBU.  We can still use as many adults as possible to help with cooking, hall monitors, clean up, assisting merit badge counselors, etc.  If you are available and have not yet signed up, please let Mrs. Desrosier know as soon as possible.
